In a recent CoverTec FAQ video, we addressed a common question from a customer named Tom regarding the coverage rate for a 1-gallon sealer on Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) flooring.

Here is a breakdown of how coverage works, how much product is required, and how to accurately estimate your project needs.

Factors That Affect Sealer Coverage

Coverage on LVP or LVT (Luxury Vinyl Tile) depends on two primary factors: the specific sealer being applied and the texture of the surface.

  • Smooth Surfaces: A smooth floor surface absorbs less material, resulting in a higher coverage rate per gallon.
  • Textured Surfaces: Flooring with deep grain patterns or heavy texture absorbs more product, leading to less coverage per gallon.

Coverage Rates for CoverTec Luxury Floor Sealer

For a textured LVP surface, CoverTec’s Luxury FloorSeal typically covers about 1,200 square feet per gallon for a single coat.

Because we recommend applying two coats, a single 1-gallon container will cover approximately 600 square feet total.
