VinylGuard® Gloss is a high-performance, water-based polyurethane coating designed to protect and enhance vinyl, rubber, and resilient flooring with a durable, high-gloss finish.
VinylGuard® is designed for luxury vinyl tile (LVT), sheet vinyl, rubber flooring, and similar resilient surfaces. It can also be used on wood terrazzo and concrete. VinylGird is not intended for glazed surfaces like porcelain and ceramic tile.
Yes. Proper preparation is essential for performance and adhesion. All existing finishes must be completely stripped if in poor condition or scrubbed clean with scouring pad and a neutral cleaner like Emerald. After scrubbing and the floor must be rinsed with a damp mop and clean water and then allowed to thoroughly dry before application.
Except for newly installed floors, the use of PrimeSeal® is required prior to the application of VinylGuard®. PrimeSeal is a cost effective fast drying Primer. It evens out the porosity in the floor, enhances adhesion, improves leveling, and significantly reduces labor during any subsequent stripping and recoating processes.
PrimeSeal should be applied with a flat microfiber mop ( https://www.covertecproducts.com/product/18-microfiber-flat-mop-pad/) at a spread rate of approximately 1,200–1,500 sq. ft. per gallon. Allow 20–30 minutes of dry time before applying VinylGuard®.

VinylGuard® is a two-component system:

  • Mix Part A until uniform (about 1 minute).
  • Add Part B and mix for another 2 minutes minute.
  • Allow the mixture to stand for 5 minutes and then it is ready to use
Apply using a roller tray and a 3/8″ non-shed roller, using 4″–6″ rollers for edges. Maintain a wet edge and avoid over-rolling.

One gallon covers approximately 500 – 800 sq. ft. per coat, depending on surface texture and application technique.
Typically, one coat is sufficient. In high-traffic areas, an additional coat may be applied for added durability.
The coating will dry in approximately 6 to 8 hours, depending on temperature, humidity, and airflow. Adequate ventilation is important during curing.
Is the surface slippery after application? When applied correctly, VinylGuard® provides a durable, slip-resistant finish when dry but can still be slippery when wet. If the floor is expected to be walked upon when wet then CoverGrip anti slip additive should be added into the mixture at the time of application (https://www.covertecproducts.com/product/covergrip-anti-slip-additive-for-sealers-and-coatings/).
Routine cleaning with a neutral cleaner is recommended. Our Emerald Floor Maintainer is a good option (https://www.covertecproducts.com/product/emerald-enzyme-cleaner-maintainer/). Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive pads to maximize coating life.
Yes. VinylGuard® is designed to outperform traditional wax systems by offering greater durability, longer service life, and reduced maintenance.
Yes. Always use chair glides or protective pads on furniture legs, ensure proper airflow during curing, and follow recommended prep and application steps for best results.
